Computer Technology Teacher
Frank Cochran is just about everyone’s favorite teacher at MGCS.  All students from kindergarten up escape normal class routine once a week to go to Mr. Cochran’s lab for an hour or so of “fun” education!  Frank moved to Alpharetta, Georgia, when it was a one-traffic-light town with a drugstore and soda fountain above the jailhouse.  After high school he moved to a chicken farm in Commerce (“my mother must have known every chicken recipe in the world”) before studying at Georgia College and Univeristy.  There he gained a BS in Sociology/Psychology and an M.Ed. in Instructional technology.  He has received an award in Quantitative Research for the in-depth study of the correlation between hand guns and gun crimes and has completed two internships in behavioral modification at Central State Hospital in Hardwick, Georgia.  Frank and his wife, Holly, have two sons, Greg and Chris, a graduate of our middle school some years ago.  Frank likes the small classes at MGCS, as well as the Christian atmosphere among students, staff, and parents.

Language Arts Teacher
Lisa Register Straight from Mrs. Register’s desk:  “Welcome students, Parents, Families! What a blessing to see the returning students and our newcomers as well. This summer was full of God’s beauty beginning with my trip home to Texas. Yes folks, I’m a Texan!  My two adult children, 26 and 21, are happily and gainfully employed - Yeah! I grew up in the Hill Country area, graduated from Texas Lutheran University, became a TX certified teacher, and then earned a Masters in-between children and teaching-primarily in the elementary/middle grades for public and private schools as well as networking for home schooling groups.  After relocating to the Georgia mountains with my husband, I became GA certified and substitute taught multi-level for a couple of years.  A gift from God occurred when I was chosen to teach here at MGCS full-time last February.  And here I am, feeling so wonderfully blessed to join the 2011-2012 high school staff as the English teacher!  SAT prep, media studies, family and consumer science are other courses I’ll be leading.  Come on in, before or after school.  The door’s open!”
7th-8th Grade Teacher
Trayce De Leon is a new member to our staff this year.  She is joining us from Seattle, Washington.  She comes to us with a teaching background that includes many different grade levels and subject areas.  She taught in Japan for several years for the Department of Defense and in Arkansas in the talented and gifted math program.  She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Charleston and is working on finishing her Master’s degree from the University of Phoenix in curriculum development.
Mrs. De Leon has two boys who will attend MGCS.  She is excited that the Lord has placed her here and looks forward to what the Lord has in store for her third grade class as they learn and grow in him.  Her favorite verse is Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “Plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future.”

Eric Johnson Mr. Johnson is also new to MGCS and the teaching profession.  He comes to us from Kansas with his wife and adorable 9 month-old baby daughter.  Because he grew up in a military family, he’s lived many interesting places here in the US and in Europe.  While living in TN, Mr. Johnson earned his BA in history from Freed-Hardeman University where he also was quite active in chorus, band, and theater production.  He will teach government, Bible, music history and music appreciation.  Before accepting this staff position, Mr. Johnson had been pursuing his Masters.  “I’m already impressed with the students in my classes,” he reports.  “They’ve made these first few days easier and I look forward to a very good year.”  Mr. Johnson has a great passion for history and music.  He aspires to successfully share that with his students.  MGCS is blessed in that he takes an active role of leadership with the Christian curriculum and all that it has to offer.
Math / Science Teacher
Valeria Denny A native of the Macon area, is Mrs. Denney.  She will instruct math and science.  After receiving her degree from Mercer University and becoming certified a few years ago, she took a job in accounting.  Mrs. Denney is relatively new to the teaching profession and very excited about her new journey that God’s chosen as her Christian mission.  The school is fortunate to have her three children in attendance as well.  She says that genuine caring for the students in such a way that very few schools, other than Christian schools like MGCS can offer is what makes teaching here so very special to her and her family.  She has two boys, 6th and 2nd, and a daughter in K3.  She will be busy as a devoted mother, wife, and teacher with high expectations for his school year. Mrs. Denney assures parents that she will guide and assist their children in accomplishing great goals.   “I encourage parents to share in their children’s learning this year by providing supportive home environments and open, frequent parent-teacher communication.  I am grateful to join the terrific staff here at MGCS!”
